Best Of The Decade
As 2019, comes to an end, I love looking back on these past 10 years. At the beginning of the decade, I was a sophomore in college trying to learn about design and grow. I had no idea that 10 years later I would design for some amazing companies and brands. It is a miracle to see where I started to where I am now. I’m just so grateful. Looking forward to awesome design projects and teams in this decade. Happy New Year! Let the roaring 20’s begin!
Here's a look back on the last 10 years! I only included years that I favored the most, but I'm grateful for every year.
2009

That year, I participated in my first graphic design portfolio review at the University of Houston. At U of H, I enrolled in classes that would encourage me to become a well-rounded creative professional. When I graduated in 2011, I was able to walk across that stage with a variety of classes from Graphic Communications, Architecture, Psychology, Acting, French, Sculpture, Math, and others.
2011
This was probably the most exciting year of the decade! On May 13, 2011, I proudly graduated from the University of Houston with a BA in Art and a minor in Art History. Becoming the first person in my family to graduate from college with a Bachelor's Degree. I was named the Woman's Club of Houston Scholar of the Year on May 25. Started a part-time internship two months later at a photography studio for Graphics and Social Media Management. In August of that same year, started graduate school. I was introduced as a professional designer during this year, which means I've been professional designing for nearly 10 years.
2012
Started blogging for the first time and started working more as a Freelance Graphic Designer. I also launched clarissafletcher.com.
2014
In August, I graduated from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Masters in Digital Media Studies. I walked the stage in May. Later that year, I published Good Mood Shopper's first issue online.

My second favorite year of the decade! Traveled to Detroit, Michigan to work on social media and marketing for Lakewood Church. Later that fall, I started independent contracting for companies. These companies included Chicks With Class and others.

My third favorite year of the decade! Hired as an In-House Graphic Designer and participated in a television show for BET social media and graphics. Started designing for Five Key Collective, an entertainment company. Added Love In A Big World as a contract client.
In conclusion, I'm grateful for the people I met in this decade that profoundly impacted my life. Thank you so much for everything.
Hey Girl, 2020 is going to be fantastic!
