Memphis Trip
Hi, Happy New Year everyone! I haven't blogged in over a year, but I'm back!
On the first day, we spent our 35th birthday in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis is known for its civil rights history and tourists can feel the energy in this city. We arrived on December 9th in the morning and decided to visit The National Civil Rights Museum. This museum captures the history of African American History. The Lorraine Hotel is a part of the museum where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. spent his last days. Just visiting the room where he spoke to the Memphis people on the balcony took my breath away.
Next, my breath was taken away many times during the exhibit. Having to read the things that many had to experience broke my heart. The way they were treated..broke my heart. So many people stood up for what was right and just wanted to break chains for my generation.
THINGS WE DID:
Visited The National Civil Rights Museum
Enjoyed some lunch at BB Kings BBQ Restaurant
Went on walking tour of Downtown Memphis
Memphis Observation Deck
Went to a Michael W Smith Concert
Visited Elvis Home and Toured His Vehicles and Airplanes
Enjoyed the The Guests House at Graceland
On the second day, we went back downtown to do some shopping to explore Memphis. On the third day, we visited Graceland. We actually missed our tour time to get tickets, so an amazing woman who worked Will Call talked to her boss and we were granted access for the 2 o'clock tour of Graceland! God Bless, her!
Graceland
I have to say that Graceland was amazing! I took over 200 hundreds photos of Elvis House. Upon arrival we were given a tablet and a pair of headphones to listen to as we entered into each room. The experience was incredible.
The Guest House at Graceland
The Guest House at Graceland is beautiful and the staff surprised my twin sister and I with balloons from my mom! We enjoyed the entire hotel and their amenities a lot.
